Military style is a key influence for Spring/Summer 2016, not only on the runway but also for street style.
Other than the timeless trench coat invented by Thomas Burberry more than 100 years ago, Spring Summer 16 will see a number of glam reinterpretations of army surplus separates: take Alexander Wang, who updated khaki jackets and trousers with fringes and appliqués. Alternatively, Jil Sander, whose collection was inspired by military tendencies in terms of colour (beige) and details (maxi patch pockets, buttons and buckles).
The main protagonist, however, is camouflage – the print of choice for Saint Laurent’s parkas and even its classic Sac de Jour. The same applies to off-catwalk trends: dark greens, as well as oversized bomber jackets and cargo pants dominate street style.
